About Us

A little bit about us…

Cooking and baking was always a big part of sisters Cate Sisco, Kristi White and Lora Ferguson while growing up in Evansville, Indiana. Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays always included homemade pies their mother and grandmother would bake. The girls looked forward to making their cakes with their mother on their birthdays. As the sisters got older they developed their own style of baking, adding new twists to family recipes.

With families of their own as adults the tradition continued as they baked cakes and cookies for their children. In September of 1998 Cate and Kristi opened a small bakery on North Main Street and named it “Piece of Cake”. A year later they convinced Lora to become their baker. After five years at their first location the sisters moved the bakery to a larger location in downtown Evansville. With more space they added another baker and more decorators in order to expand their menu. With more than a decade of making cakes and cookies “Piece of Cake” is truely a family business.  Kristi’s husband Karl bakes and makes their delicious frosting.  Cate’s sister in law MaryJo is in charge of customer service.  Her son Jacob delivers wedding cakes.  Lora’s daughter Amanda and daughter in law Melissa decorate cakes.

The bakery specializes in cakes that looks as good as they taste. Piece of Cake also makes gift baskets and party trays that are filled with cookies made from family recipes. During the holidays (November 1st until December 24) they even bake pies just like their mother used to make, continuing the tradition of baking excellence.
